Creating empowering realities in afrika to spiritually guide our people to freedom.

Migration of Rebels

Embarking on the physical and psychological migration from the polluted lands of america to the spiritually abundant continent of Afrika demands we sacrifice our personal comforts for the preservation of the collective.

This is OUR journey.

the father trimester

The Father Trimester gives a holistic, Afrikan view of childrearing from the spiritual perspective of Black mothers and fathers. Centering the life-giving power of breastfeeding as essential to childhood development, The Father Trimester departs sharply from westernized narratives of childrearing to inform Black fathers on how they can best contribute to the strengthening of family bonds and supporting their partners in their initiation into motherhood. Part autobiographical and heavily researched, this book is exclusively written for parents of Afrikan descent as it includes several full color photographs and personal accounts of their journey in nourishing their child in the earliest months of life and what that looks like while living on the rich continent of Afrika. As a mixture of information relevant to both the prenatal and postpartum period, The Father Trimester aims to instill confidence in Black families to home birth. Also included in the book is a list of empowering pregnancy and labor affirmations for Black women. The uniqueness of this work derives largely from the fact that it was written by a Black man, with the support of his wife who had recently given birth for the second time, frustrated by the lack of diversity in a birthing literature industry dominated by white women. A few of the topics covered in the Father Trimester include:

  • The Role of Oxytocin in Building Sisterhood

  • Our Home-birth Story

  • Affirmations

  • The Biopsychosocial Factors of Labor Pain and Preventive Measures

  • Ways The Father Can Assist The Mother After Labor

  • Preventive Measures Against Postpartum Depression in Black Women

  • Insight On Lotus Births

  • Reasons To Avoid Western Medicine

  • Intentional Unmediated Touching

  • The Father's Role in Preventing Early Pain and Trauma in our Wives and Babies

  • And Many More

Coming out of an american social environment where traumatic birthing practices constituted the norm, the author wrote this book in an effort to create space for the physical, psychological, and spiritual healing of all Black families. This is necessary in lieu of the increasing rates of infant and maternal mortality haunting the Black population in the states. For these reasons, the Father Trimester is a vital resource not only for Black fathers but for Black mothers as well in promoting healthy, balanced relationships.

book testimonials

“The chapter 5 is my favorite yet. From the start, the book is well written and for someone who English is not the first neither the second language, I was able to read half of the book on one sitting. Every information in the book was really simple to understand and it go straight to the point too. That’s what I like. About the chapter 5, it just made me emotional. Reading your description of that day , imagining the scene through your words, I was very amazed by how pure and sacred giving birth by an afrikan way could’ve be. Even Mikey knew how to contribute with his brother coming into this world. Just imagining at that moment, the union between every member of your family, everybody knew what and how to do things, the purity and discipline of every action, it just get me somewhere deep. I even read it a second time just to really acknowledge how beautiful it could’ve have been to see this "spiritual gift of homebirth."

“The Father Trimester is a necessary tool for the Nation-building of our African, Black, and Melanated People. The gifts in this book are critical to the preservation of Black Families and foster cultural, scientific, and research-backed approaches to reverse many of the plights Black Mothers face including post-partum depression, cesarian childbirths, and the inability to breastfeed. I highly recommend this book to all expecting, postpartum, conscious mothers and fathers as a guide to support them in their parenthood journey.”
