Using the element of water as the symbolic context, Hakeem takes us on a journey with Chike as he faces the challenges of family dysfunction and the many ways to overcome these obstacles through time honored Afrikan wisdom.

author


At the age of twelve Hakeem Best developed a deep interest in writing, pan-Africanism, research, and cultural education. Among his intellectual influences are Chinua Achebe, Fela Kuti, and Phife Dawg of the renowned Hip Hop group A Tribe Called Quest.

Currently, he is in the process of writing his second novel titled Beach of Buyers. He lives with his Mother, Father, and baby Brother in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania where repatriated to from the US in the summer of 2020.
