The Father Trimester is an urgent appeal to all Black fathers to reclaim their role as spiritual guardians of their families by protecting the life-giving process of breastfeeding. Drawing from the best of our Afrikan heritage this book is designed to inspire us to unlearn the self-defeating doctrines of mainstream western society so that we can secure the mother-child bonds necessary to map out a sovereign future for us all.

what our people are saying

I'm an African American Registered Nurse and Full Spectrum doula with over 15 years of experience. Because so much of my world is women's health I wanted to read a book with a male perspective and I found it to be excellent! The information is well researched, supported, and easily digestible especially for 1st time fathers. This book is culturally specific, in depth, and takes into account the numerous factors that contribute to Black Maternal mortality and how fathers can help curtail those numbers and support their partners and children. A major difference between mothers that have difficulty during and after birth and mothers who thrive is the presence of loving support. I highly recommend this book!

The chapter 5 is my favorite yet. From the start, the book is well written and for someone who English is not the first neither the second language, I was able to read half of the book on one sitting. Every information in the book was really simple to understand and it go straight to the point too. That’s what I like. About the chapter 5, it just made me emotional. Reading your description of that day , imagining the scene through your words, I was very amazed by how pure and sacred giving birth by an afrikan way could’ve be. Even Mikey knew how to contribute with his brother coming into this world. Just imagining at that moment, the union between every member of your family, everybody knew what and how to do things, the purity and discipline of every action, it just get me somewhere deep. I even read it a second time just to really acknowledge how beautiful it could’ve have been to see this "spiritual gift of homebirth."

“The Father Trimester is a necessary tool for the Nation-building of our African, Black, and Melanated People. The gifts in this book are critical to the preservation of Black Families and foster cultural, scientific, and research-backed approaches to reverse many of the plights Black Mothers face including post-partum depression, cesarian childbirths, and the inability to breastfeed. I highly recommend this book to all expecting, postpartum, conscious mothers and fathers as a guide to support them in their parenthood journey.”
